The Tanzania Investment Bank

The Tanzania investment bank was founded as a government-owned institution chiefly involved in long and medium term funding of development projects in all sectors of the economy. When the government started steering the bank towards diversification of operations and eventual privatisation, it became clear that a new, flexible, Y2K compliant retail banking system would be required to replace our old and inflexible system. We selected GLOBUS from a number of alternative systems because Global Technology could guarantee to deliver a working system in six months, and at an acceptable implementation cost. By getting detailed specifications, fully approved and signed off by ourselves then building the system at the GIC in Johannesburg, they made optimum use of skilled resources all in one place. There was no scope creep on our project, and no cost overrun.
